Artist Series

In 1984 Breyer introduced the Artist Series, which featured the work of four well-known equine artists. Each of the six models represents a famous real horse, and included in each box was a small brochure that provided information on the sculptor and the horse the model represented. These models were produced in a 1:10 scale, slightly smaller than most Traditional series models.

	410	Marguerite Henry's Sham Sculpted by Rich Rudish, avid horseman, illustrator, and sculptor "The Godolphin Arabian, a famous character from Marguerite Henry's Newberry Award winning book, King of the Wind, Sham was one of the three foundation from which all modern Thoroughbreds are descended."	1984-1988
	415	Buckshot Famous Spanish Barb Sculpted by Bob Scriver, sculptor and member of the Cowboy Artists of America. "Buckshot, a famous "Barb," was the first horse of the Spanish Mustang Registry and was representative of the horse that went wild in the new world of the Americas, becoming the cowhorse of the West and infusing its blood into the foundation of every American breed of today."	1985-1988
	420	Touch of Class Sculpted by Chris Hess, the creator of dozens of Breyer models. Mr. Hess also worked in oil and wood and originally trained in the tool and die trade. "Touch of Class, known as "Miss Kitty" to those closest to her, is the eleven year old bay thoroughbred mare that captured the hearts of millions by winning the Olympic gold medal in both Team and Individual Show Jumping in 1984. Small by show jumping standards, "Miss Kitty" has great stride and desire as evidenced by her outstanding performances in Los Angeles."	1986-1988
	425	Marguerite Henry's Lady Roxanna Sculpted by Rich Rudish, avid horseman, illustrator, and sculptor "Lady Roxanna is the elegant and romantic white mare of Marguerite Henry's book "King of the Wind." Lady Roxanna was the mother of Lath and the mate of Sham, the famous Godolphin Arabian."	1986-1988
	435	Secretariat, Famous Race Horse Sculpted by Chris Hess, the creator of dozens of Breyer models. Mr. Hess also worked in oil and wood and originally trained in the tool and die trade. "Secretariat is the 1973 Triple Crown Winner which experts call the "Horse of the Century." He is a descendent of the Godolphin Arabian, Sham and was sired by Bold Ruler and Out of Something Royal. Secretariat raced for two years and won seventeen of twenty-one races. Now retired and standing at stud at the Clairbone Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. He is visited yearly by thousands of admiring fans."	1987-1995
	430	Sherman Morgan, Son of Justin Morgan Sculpted by Jeanne Mellin Herrick, author, painter, artist, and breeder, trainer, and exhibitor of Morgan horses. "The Morgan horse is uniquely American in origin. Sherman Morgan is a bright red chestnut and one of the three sons of Justin Morgan, the first Morgan. He was popularized in Marguerite Henry's famous story "Justin Morgan Had a Horse" and a Disney film of the same name."	1987-1990
